African Stories

The boys have enjoyed reading a range of African stories this half term. All our English work was based around the book.

The boys enjoyed learning about what and adjective is and began to use them to make their writing more descriptive.

The boys learnt about time words and wrote instructions on how to make a pancake.

The boys have also been learning to order alphabetically, alliteration, full stop, capital letters and writing a list.

The other stories the boys enjoyed studying this half term were:

The boys had a visit from Mr Walker who spoke to the boys about his experience of living in Kenya. Mr Walker told the boys how he opened a School in Kenya and met the many beautiful African animals.

Have a spooktacular half term!

The boys had a wonderful time yesterday and looked fantastic in all their spooky outfits.

Well done to all the boys who took part in the Pumpkin competition, you created some fabulous designs.

Congratulations to Antonio who won the Pumpkin competition in Year 1!

African Art

The boys has great fun papier-mâché balloons to create the base of their masks. Once they were dry the boys painted their masks. Finally the created colourful designs using feathers, colourful paper and

African T-Shirts

Firstly the boys used a tie dye technique to colour their T-Shirts.

The boys twisted their T-Shirts in the middle. Once it was in a tight ball they tied elastic bands around their T-Shirt. They had lots of fun choosing the colours to decorate their T-Shirts.

The following week once the T-Shirts were washed and dry the boys used animal stamps and fabric paint to add more colour to their designs.

The boys will wear their t-shirts and masks to our Pre Prep assembly after half term to show the other boys in Pre Prep. 🙂

Welcome to 1A a sweet new class :)

Welcome to 1A!

This week the boys had a wonderful start settling into their new classroom. They looked especially smart in their new School uniforms. The boys enjoyed seeing their friends and learning all about Year 1.

The 1A boys created a colourful cloakroom display each designing their own cupcake. They also had lots of fun using the technique pointillism to colour the map of Africa and collage to decorate our class lion.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
