Height and Length

This week the boys started a new topic in maths – measurement. The boys worked together to measure items around the classroom using non-standard units. They enjoyed using paperclips and unfix cubes to measure the height and length of different objects, using the key vocabulary ‘taller’, ‘shorter’ and ‘longer’.

Titanic Models

This week in Art we used a new material – clay! We created our own Titanic models by splitting our clay into three parts. We thought carefully about the shapes that we should make for each part and how they must be sculpted.

Materials!

This week, the boys started a new topic in Science about materials. We decided to undergo a Lochinver hunt to find which materials were natural and which were man-made. I wonder if you could find any natural and man-made materials at home?

Happy New Year!

1R have had a very good and busy start to the new year. During Welly Time, the boys worked collaboratively to create a hanging mobile out of natural items. They set themselves goals to reach for the year and were subtracting from 20 using different methods.

I wonder if the boys can spot their item from the mobile.

Enjoy your weekend!
