Picnic!

Our final lunch of Year 1! The boys enjoyed eating their picnic on the Music field yesterday and having a little run around.

The boys have been amazing this year and they have each grown so much. They should be proud of all they have achieved!

We hope you have a lovely summer and enjoy the break!

The 1R team 🙂

London Trip

The boys had the best time on their London Trip. When we arrived we made our way to Buckingham Palace, where the Union flag was flying high, so the boys knew that the King was not in.

Next, we went on our open top bus tour. The boys enjoyed seeing the landmarks from the top deck and showcased their knowledge by spotting the London landmarks.

We quickly boarded the river cruise, which made its way to the Tower of London where the boys enjoyed their lunches.

Finally, we couldn’t leave without a little treat – an ice lolly!!

Well done boys, you were amazing 🙂

Sports Day and Coin Mosaic

On Monday the boys completed their Sports Day for 2023! They enjoyed taking part in running races, long jump, obstacle courses, as well as a sack and egg and spoon race. All of the boys did incredibly well and showed great sportsmanship. Well done, boys! 🙂

In the afternoon the boys took part in the Coin Mosaic competition. The boys showed great collaboration trying to create our design of the Kenyan flag.

International Day!

What a fabulous day we have had. It was so lovely to see the children dressed in their traditional costumes and we enjoyed learning about each of our nationalities. This morning we welcomed Mrs Ufland, Mrs Kaplun and Mrs Edgington, who came to speak to the boys about Russia. The boys enjoyed decorating Russian Dymkovo style horses.

After break, the boys were onto their next activity – Chinese plate painting. They learnt about Chinese New Year and significant colours used. The boys have decorated some lovely plates to take home.

1R’s country was Australia, we learnt lots of facts! We decorated our classroom door by choosing two of our favourite Australian animals and created the Australian flag.

Finally, we were welcomed by Mrs Christou who came and taught the boys Bollywood and Flamenco dancing! The boys even got to show off their dancing skills with some freestyle at the end. They have excellent moves!

What a jam packed day! 🙂

Art

The boys enjoyed going outside to do their Art lesson this week. We rolled out a large piece of paper and the boys used a range of oil pastels to draw London Landmarks.

Assembly!

The boys did very well in their Assembly this week. They all remembered their lines and spoke so clearly. A very well done to them all! Here are some pictures from the morning.

We hope you all have a lovely half term! 🙂

Mental Health Breakfast

The boys enjoyed starting their morning by munching through their breakfast in class! We spent time chatting to our friends and listening to relaxing music to start our day.

Coronation Street Party!

It was lovely to see the boys dress in red, white and blue today, in support of the Coronation! This week the boys decorated crowns to wear at our street party lunch. The boys loved the food and could not stop waving their flags!

Have another lovely bank holiday weekend! 🙂

Welly Time

They boys enjoyed taking part in a texture walk during their Welly Time lesson this week. The boys made their own texture rubbings using crayons and paper.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend 🙂

Science

This week in Science, the boys were investigating how shadows are formed. The boys understood that when an opaque object blocks the path of the light, this will form a shadow, as the light cannot pass through. The boys enjoyed making shadow puppets using torches.
