Sooty visits LHS!
On Friday morning 1B were lucky enough to have Marcus’s dad bring in one of his cats Sooty for our pet week.
Sooty was a beautiful black cat with amazing green eyes. His name really suited him!
Marcus told us lots of facts about Sooty and he looks after him.
Thank you so much for bringing him in.
Enjoy the photo’s of the visit.
Can you spot Sooty in the carrying case?!
Project Afternoon
This afternoon was a time for the boys in 1B and 1C to share their projects about knights and castles with each other, their peers and their parents!
Each boy had the chance to present their project to the class and share their work. This was really lovely to witness.
The boys wandered around each classroom asking their peers questions about their work. They were very sensible and mature in their answers.
Please enjoy the photo’s below of a wonderful afternoon.
Some boys were off ill today so we will share their projects when they return!
A visit from Wellington
On Thursday morning 1B were very lucky to have a visit from a 12 week old puppy called Wellington. He belonged to George’s aunt and was absolutely adorable!
George and his aunt told us about caring for a puppy. We learnt about toilet training, feeding, injections and how just like humans when we are getting our teeth puppies also love to chew!
The boys asked some good questions and Wellington behaved beautifully.
Jenson’s dog visits 1B
As part of our work on animals and pets, it was lovely to have a visit from Jenson’s pet dog today. He is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and is 11 years old. Mrs. Lacey explained that this is 77 years old in dog years. The boys asked lots of questions about how Jenson and his family look after their dog. One interesting fact that we learned is that the Cavalier King Charles is the only breed of dog that is allowed in a pub and cannot be asked to leave. This was a law made by King Charles himself and the law has never been changed!
Project afternoon
Just to remind you all we are looking forward to seeing your projects next week. Please bring them in on Wednesday 16th March or Thursday 17th March. Parents are welcome to come and have a look from 2.45pm on Thursday afternoon.
Happening History visits Lochinver
The boys experienced life in medieval times today when ‘Happening History’ came to visit. The boys learned about medieval clothes and had fun trying them on. They also got to look at a real suit of armour. We were surprised that it was so heavy! The boys also got to work in a medieval kitchen and made butter and flour as they would have in medieval times. Did you know it would take one hour to grind enough flour to make one loaf of bread?! Enjoy looking at our photographs!
World Book Day 2016
The boys have had a wonderful day today celebrating World Book Day with our theme of ‘space.’ The classroom has been over run by storm troopers and astronauts!
The day started with a full school assembly which was a great showcase of all the outfits.
It has been a very busy day! We have had the Year 6 boys scribing our ideas for what our aliens love, a story read by Year 8 boys and a year group assembly to celebrate the wonderful books we have made. The boys have experienced being authors, illustrators and a good audience!
Enjoy looking at the photo’s below
Thanks for a day that was ‘ out of this world’ 1B!
