A week in 1A

English

The boys have been studying different stories based around hospitals. This week we read Franklin goes to hospital. They learnt how to label objects from a hospital, describe a picture using adjectives and they wrote in the informal form writing a ‘Get Well Soon’ card to Franklin.

Humanities

The boys have enjoyed learning all about Florence Nightingale. This week they created Florence Nightingale medals and the Order of Merit. They learnt about why she received the order of Merit from King Edward VII.

The boys worked together to begin creating our Humanities display.

They painted a picture of:

Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and a modern day nurse.

Science

The boys have enjoyed learning about forces this half term. Last week they experimented with forces using the outdoor equipment, deciding if they had to use a push or a pull motion to make the object move.

This week the boys learnt about friction. They experimented with different surfaces and predicted how it may affected the distance in which the car travels.
