Have a lovely half term

The boys have been learning about the parts of a plant and their functions. They created some wonderful plant collages.

The boys learnt about questioning words and question marks in Literacy this week.

The boys created beautiful watercolour paintings.

In Maths this week the boys have been learning about place value. They have been adding on multiples of 10s using the Dienes.

   

Well done to all the boys who entered the pumpkin competition!

The boys studied the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo and created ‘Fruit Faces’ inspired by his work.



A,B,C

The boys had great fun this week creating their own Class dictionary. They learnt the purpose of a dictionary and how to use one. They learnt meanings of new words.

The boys learnt about taste in Science this week. They carried out an experiment trying different liquids. They had to use words to describe the taste.

The boys have been learning about fractions this week in Maths. They each made a pizza which they will divide into fractions.

In Art they produced some beautiful watercolour paintings. They have now added dragonflies by using sycamore seeds.

 

 



Solving Problems

Thank you to everyone who has already sent in baby photos, they adorable!

We will be using them in our Science lesson next Wednesday 16th October.

The boys have made some beautiful African jewelry that they will finish next week.

In Maths the boys have been solving word problems using subtraction. The boys were very surprised to see their names written in the word problems.

Baby photos needed and Nature Challenge

In Science we have been learning about our bodies. Last we the boys learnt about how we grow and how our bodies change.

Please can the boys bring in a named photo/photocopy of picture of them as a baby. Please may the name be written on the back.

We will be playing guess the baby 🙂

 

If you can find any large ‘helicopter’ seeds from a Sycamore tree please bring them into school for a possible art project!

Save the elephants

This week we read Jack and the Beanstalk. The boys all created an imaginary world they would like to find at the top of the beanstalk. They wrote adjectives using commas in a list to describe their fantasy world. They thought of lots of fantastic describing words.

In Art this week the boys had a great time printing T-shirts inspired by African fabrics. Lots of the boys said they never want to take their T-shirts off once they are dry 🙂

Last week the boys learnt about endangered animals. 1G researched about the ivory trade. The boys made some posters about saving the elephants. They presented in three groups to 1TD. Group one spoke about animals facts, group two described what an endangered animals is and group three informed 1TD about the ivory trade.

 

The boys made amazing African masks last week.
