Florence Nightingale

This week, Florence Nightingale came to visit Year 1. The boys were full of knowledge and enjoyed answering lots of questions about her life. Even Florence herself was impressed!

Maths – Positions

In Maths we have been learning about Positions. We have looked closely at ordinal numbers and position in a queue, by using language such as, between or behind. We have also been focusing on identifying where something is, based on ‘left’ and ‘right’. The boys worked together to put ‘making a sandwich’ into the correct order. They then identified the ordinal number needed.

Welly Time

We have been looking at different sketching and shading styles in Art this week. We decided to use these skills and sketch from observation. We observed different things from nature, such as plants, trees and leaves.

Forces – Pushes and Pulls!

This week we started our new topic in Science – Forces. We used different equipment to investigate whether they moved by being pushed, pulled or both! Could you think of something at home that needs to be pushed or pulled to move?
