History Mr Walker shares about his time at Lochinver

In History we are learning about the past, present and future. This week Mr walker spoke to the boys about his time at Lochinver, and discussed how things have changed from the past to the present day. The boys wrote a list of questions they wanted to find out about Lochinver.

Religious Studies

In our Religious Studies lesson this week, the boys were were very fortunate to have Seth’s Grandma Mrs Barron come and share with them how they celebrate the Jewish new year ‘Rosh Hashanah’.

She explained to the boys its an opportunity to say sorry, and to look forward to what the new year will bring. She told them about the traditions they share as a family.

The boys had the opportunity to try honey cake, which was homemade by Mrs Barron it was delicious! They also tasted apples dipped in honey, challah and grape juice.

Thank you for visiting us Mrs Barron:)

Good Afternoon,
We have had a wonderful week in 1G this week, the boys have settled in well to their new routines and have been looking after our classroom.

In Science we have been learning about ourselves and our body. Last week the boys drew around each others bodies and labeled the body parts. They then labeled a photograph of themselves drawing an arrow to the correct body parts.

This week we were exploring the five body senses, and focused on hearing. We played guess the sound game which the boys enjoyed. After we went on a ‘Sound Walk’ around the school and recorded the sounds we could hear in different locations.

We also have a beautiful display of the boys family tree work which they completed for homework.

This half term in English we are reading lots of ‘Fairy Tales. This week the boys took on the role of Goldilocks and wrote a sorry letter to Baby Bear, they thought of different ways they could make Baby Bear feel better.

In Art last week we studied different types of houses from the past, present and future. They boys created their own house design out of collage.

This week we looked at toys from the past and focused on the dolls house. The boys had fun decorating the inside and outside of their shoe box ready to add the furniture next week. They enjoyed looking at the different types of dolls houses and deciding which room of the house their shoe box was going to be.

Have a lovely weekend!

We look forward to seeing you again on Monday.
